is one of our main commitments
. And we have been doing so since we launched our first air pollution measuring device Kunak AIR in 2015.

In recent years, we have grown to become a benchmark in the design of cost-effective air pollution measurement instruments and have deployed equipment in more than 30 countries.

The milestones we have reached have not, however, dampened our passion for work well done and innovation. So we decided to challenge ourselves and see how far we could go.

The result is the new Kunak AIR Lite, our new air pollution measuring device.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Kunak AIR Lite is a new air pollution measuring device that provides real-time information.
  • It is equipped with 2 cartridges with GasPlugTM technology that can be combined for the measurement of different gases.
  • Its small size, reliability and competitive price make it a solution to consider for monitoring projects such as urban areas, low emission zones (LEZ), industrial areas or wastewater treatment plants (WWTP).

Kunak AIR Lite, an air pollution measuring device with an eye on key pollutants

If we had to define the features and performance of the Kunak AIR Lite with one expression, it is clear: small is beautiful, the title of a well-known book by E. F. Schumacher. But in our case, small is also precise, innovative and, above all, useful.

After all, the Kunak AIR Lite is, to use an affectionate nickname, the “little sister” of our successful Kunak AIR Pro solution.

Kunak AIR Lite came about because in our active listening process we noticed that the market was demanding systems that were:

  • compact;
  • reliable, and
  • affordable

Our new station simplifies the task of detecting air pollution levels. It is the answer to the need to facilitate and democratise air quality monitoring wherever it is needed.

And it does it in a simple way, focusing on the main pollutants in the area or activity to be monitored, with a choice of 2 gases in addition to particulate matterAtmospheric particulate matter are microscopic elements suspended in the air, consisting of solid and liquid substances. They have a wide range of sizes an...

The technology behind the Kunak AIR Lite station

The new air pollution measuring device Kunak AIR Lite is smaller than a shoebox and weighs about 2 kilograms.

These small dimensions are sufficient, however, to house 2 cartridges with GasPlugTM technology (patent pending system) that accurately analyse the air quality in real-time.

This interchangeable cartridge system, which we integrated for the first time in the Kunak AIR Pro and now also in the Kunak AIR Lite, undoubtedly represents a breakthrough in pollution measurement. In fact, it has quickly become one of the hallmarks of the quality and added value that Kunak brings to all its products.

These cartridges, which can be combined according to the parameters that need to be monitored, can measure:

  • carbon monoxide (CO);
  • carbon dioxideCarbon dioxide (CO2) is a gas that occurs naturally in the atmosphere and plays a crucial role in the life processes of the planet. This gas, also known as...

  • hydrogen sulphide/hydrogen sulphide (H2S);
  • ammonia (NH3), y
  • volatile organic compounds (VOCs)

The Kunak AIR Lite also enables the monitoring of particulate matter (PM1, PM2.5 and PM10). Particulate matter is one of the pollutants with the greatest impact on human health.

Our new station also integrates sensors to read environmental variables such as temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure and dew point. These parameters can be complemented with the installation of various external probes such as a sound level meter, rain gauge, and anemometer, among others.

The system is powered by a lithium battery that can be connected to mains electricity but can also be connected to a solar panel. In this way, real-time air quality monitoring is possible independently of the power supply.

The collected data is transmitted via all major communication technologies (2G, 3G, 4G, Ethernet or Modbus RTU) and can be uploaded to our Kunak Cloud web platform for visualisation and analysis of pollution levels.

How can we help monitor air pollution with Kunak AIR Lite?

Kunak AIR solutions are one of the first steps in tackling the problem of air pollution. After all, you cannot adopt corrective and preventive policies when you do not know the extent of the problem or are unable to identify the most problematic points. As a well-known axiom states, you cannot improve what you cannot measure.

We believe, therefore, that solutions such as the Kunak AIR Lite can greatly facilitate this task, making mass deployment of this type of air pollution measuring device possible. And without doubt, its small size, versatility, reliability, accuracy and affordability are factors that play in its favour.

Examples where Kunak AIR Lite shows its usefulness

The Kunak AIR Lite is the perfect solution, for example, to monitor odour nuisance caused by hydrogen sulphide or ammonia. These gases are released in facilities such as wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), landfills or composting plants.

Kunak AIR Lite is also an option to consider in urban areas where traffic is a major source of pollution. In these areas, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter represent two of the most significant emissions. These atmospheric measurements can also be complemented with traffic data by external probes that can be connected to the Kunak AIR Lite, as we did in the Smart Pamplona Lab project for Pamplona City Council.

Special mention should be made of the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) delimitation projects that many cities are undertaking in order to improve air quality in urban centres. In these cases, our solution is particularly useful for monitoring the evolution of pollution levels.

The installation of Kunak AIR Lite stations in hybrid networks or virtual barriers also makes it possible to monitor the impact caused by the activity of industries such as cement, paper and refineries.

Kunak is, in short, the answer you are looking for to begin to correct the problem of pollution by offering a large volume of reliable and accurate data.

Let us advise you and trust in our innovative technology. Because Kunak, in the Quechua language, means just that, the one who guides or advises.
