Need
Nama Water Services (NWS) is one of Oman’s largest public companies, responsible for the production and management of energy and water across the country. In recent years, the company has reinforced its environmental policy, placing particular emphasis on air quality monitoring and odour control across its wastewater treatment plants.
The presence of sulphur compounds, ammonia and certain volatile organic compounds (H2S, NH3 and VOCs) had led to odour nuisance episodes in several communities located near treatment facilities. These events not only affected public perception but also required stronger technical evidence to manage complaints and prioritise corrective actions.
Nama identified the need for a reliable, versatile and continuous monitoring system capable of:
- Delivering real-time environmental data
- Comparing performance across multiple plants
- Supporting objective decision-making
- Operating under demanding climatic conditions
- Providing full traceability for internal environmental reporting
The company sought a decentralised solution that would combine operational flexibility with high data reliability, enabling both preventive analysis and responsive action in odour management.
