Kunak receives US EPA Honorable Mention for the Wildland Fire Sensors Challenge

September 18, 2018

Our CEO, Javier Fernandez, and our Business Development Manager, receive the US EPA award at the opening ceremony of the ASIC International Air Sensors Conference in California for our real-time fire monitoring system.

To the challenge, we presented an improved version of our Kunak AIR A10 system for the early detection of particles (PM2.5), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3) and carbon dioxideCarbon dioxide (CO2) is a gas that occurs naturally in the atmosphere and plays a crucial role in the life processes of the planet. (CO2) with a remote control and calibration system, and instant alerts configuration tool from Kunak Cloud for forest fires monitoring in real-time from the same time they occur.

In November 2017 the deadline to present proposals to this challenge ended with a total of 352 participating companies of which Kunak’s equipment has been in third place receiving the Honorable Mention.

In addition to the EPA, this challenge has been promoted by renowned federal entities such as NASA, the U.S. Forest Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the National Park Service (NPS).

It was presented through the InnoCentive platform, the global innovation portal where creative minds solve some of the world’s most important problems.

EPA states in its Official communication of the winning companies: “The Wildland Fire Sensors Challenge has increased awareness of the monitoring needs during wildfires and served as a catalyst for advancing the next generation of sensor technology systems for wildland fire applications to protect public health”.
