Kunak will invest 2M€ in the the development of Environmental Monitoring solutions.
After passing the evaluation of four European experts, Miguel Escribano and Javier Fernández, Head of Business Development and CEO of Kunak respectively, defended the project in Brussels in front of a committee of evaluators and investors. Following this process, Kunak has been chosen for Phase 2 of Horizon 2020 from more than 1,280 companies across Europe, becoming one of the first 64 companies to obtain this assistance with the new and most demanding evaluation system.
The aid will go to the K Smart Environment project, with a total budget of 2.2 million euros. This funding will enable us to further develop products and solutions to capture high-precision environmental data, connect industrial infrastructures and energy networks anywhere in the world and to offer turnkey small solutions to medium-sized industry and administrations to help them to become more sustainable and intelligent cities and businesses.
Part of the grant will go to R + D + I, to the improvement of our products and commercial solutions and to the standardization of processes, while another part will be destined to the communication, international distribution and to the search of international partners.
Our goal is to provide better solutions for our customers, among which are currently the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Suez, Canal de Isabel II, Ormazabal Velatia or Acciona Energy.
Horizon 2020 is the European Union’s programme to support research, development and innovation for the period 2014-2020, to which it will allocate 80,000 million euros, making it the most important aid in economic terms that exists in Europe for innovative SMEs. Since it was launched in 2014, only 842 projects from all over Europe, out of more than 16,000 submitted in its 18 calls, have received funding.
